I'm going to let Michael have his regular summer vacation, mostly because it suits the family best right now. One less thing on the to-do list. Besides, as he so frequently points out to me, he just finished 175 days of school, doesn't he deserve a break? Gotta love a kid who knows EXACTLY what is going on all the time. Goober.

As for Benjamin.. ack. That child needs to go to school. LMAO Or maybe *I* need him to go to school. ;o) He is such a rambunctious little boy. SO different from Michael I can't see how they share the same DNA.

We have 11 days until we move! I am so excited to FINALLY be going home. What a long journey this has been. I'm happy to see this chapter come to an end though. It's not something I care to repeat anytime soon. :o) Maybe we will come back and visit someday. I have some girls up in BC who I would love to have a GNO with!! Maybe this time we leave the camera at home, eh girls? LOL

Decisions made so far

Not that there are really enough decisions made to warrant their own post, considering the sheer number of things to do. But, I'm celebrating the small victories! So far, I have decided that I will fill out the form to register as a private school. I was thinking about the ISP program with a private school, but really I think I can handle activities for him (socially) just as well without the restraint of a school. He will be back in all of our kids programs at church, plus Tai Kwon Do and soccer. All those things considered I'm sure we will be fine socially.

So theres one thing handled.

#2 has to do with curriculum. I have seen a few different viewpoints regarding this, but for me, for now, I feel most comfortable with the idea of a schedule and routine. Michael and I are very similar in our need for consistency. After some online browsing I have found a full 5 subject set, along with a Bible study that looks perfect. I'm very excited to get going!!!!

Let the journey begin!

So not only are we a mere 2 weeks away from a move to California from Washington, but hubby and I have decided to homeschool our seven year old, Michael. I have quite a few compelling reasons for this. At the top of that list is the fact that he is a very smart kid and I'm tired of babysitting teachers to make sure he is being challenged. The fact is, that's not fair to a teacher 20+ kids.

My name is Lisa, I'm a SAHM to 2 boys, Michael, as mentioned above, who is 7 and Benjamin who is 3. We are from Southern CA and have lived here in Washington state the past 18 months. We are just about ready to go back to CA though. I just hate it here. It's not "me" My hubby and I grew up in California and all of our family lives there still. We came up here for a company who turned around and laid hubby off a few months after we got here. How lame!!

At this point I don't have any fabulous homeschool tips or websites or anything. I am still trying to figure out what forms we need and where to get a good curriculum and so on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
